Señora Moulton
I started teaching Spanish at Northwest High School in 1994. Over the years I have taught Spanish 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. It is so rewarding to me to watch as beginning students develop fluency as they progress through each level. Learning a second (or third) language also helps develop and reinforce skills that are essential in academic study.

I graduated with a BA from Alma College, majoring in Spanish and Business Administration. While I was at Alma College I spent a spring term in Paris, France and another in Madrid, Spain. Following graduation from Alma, I had a career in retail management and hospital administration before deciding to use my Spanish as a teacher. I received my teacher certification through Northern Michigan University. While at NMU, I took a Mexican Theater course that included two weeks in Mexico City. In June of 2005, I earned a MA (Education/Curriculum) from Eastern Michigan University.

Our Northwest High School Spanish student trips have included visits to Spain, Italy, France, and Mexico. In June of 2007, we spent nine days in Cuernavaca, Mexico, staying with host families. During the week, students attended Spanish classes at an international university. We traveled and did sightseeing in the afternoons and over the weekend. Over the past several years, I have been the local coordinator for a Summer Hosting Program through Intercultural Student Experiences which offers families the opportunity to host high school students from Spain for five weeks. Please contact me for more information about any upcoming trips or summer hosting.

Former students are welcome to visit my classes. Parents and community members who have a connection with the Spanish language via heritage, a career, or travel, and would like to share your experience with NWHS students, please contact me. My email address is Rebecca.Moulton@nwschools.org ¡Gracias!
